Divinatory Advisory
Divination is usually regarded as the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means. It is a broad term that can encompass a wide variety of practices and claims, including astrology, palm reading and telling fortunes with tea-leaves.
However this is NOT what you get at The Psorcery Project. The above concept is based on a series of misunderstandings that stem from representations in media and popular culture, the influence of charlatans and frauds and just the general misconceptions that tend to come along with exoteric observations of esoteric practices.
Contrary to popular belief, most divination is not about ‘predicting the future’ in the way it is depicted in TV and film; it is about using tools (or other methods of introspection such as dream analysis) to gain insight into the greater universe, along with the dynamic parts being played therein, via the subconscious.
By communicating with the subconscious on a deeper level than we have access to in a normal conscious state, we can gain an understanding of things happening in the present, how reactions and responses are shaping outcomes, the past and future narratives that are influencing them and how this all comes together to create causal trajectories of outcomes.
Using this insight into the state of our present lives and situations and how we are participating within them, we can extrapolate certain possible futures and how to avoid or manifest different outcomes, in a similar way to how a stock market analyst will gather information about the current economy, its participants, previous events and patterns of causality and utilise their own knowledge, experience, judgement and perspective to predict outcomes.
There is no scientific evidence to support the claims of divination, however, many people believe that it can provide them with insights into their lives and help them make decisions. And, much like the comparison to the stock market above, there is actually no scientific evidence to support the numerous success strategies employed by top investors and traders. In his book Squares & Sharps, Suckers & Sharks, an examination of the science, psychology and philosophy of gambling, author, researcher and analyst Joseph Buchdahl makes an interesting case examining the differences between the ideas of investment and gambling; both of which require the sacrifice of currently held wealth in the hopes of yielding a reward following speculation on the likelihood of an outcome, and demonstrates that the majority of investment strategies meet the same criteria and results as gambling strategies.
And yet, in most company, if you announced you were going to visit a hedge fund manager to pay money for their speculations to influence your future wealth you would get congratulations for trusting your future to a practitioner of a fairly recently invented technique of predicting the economy (which we actually all know is a made-up thing that only exists because we participate in acting as if it does) which has been demonstrated to consistently fail since its creation, and seems to have little more average success than sheer luck.
Compare this with the comparatively negative reactions you would expect to get if you declared in the same company that you were going to visit a practitioner of ancient techniques, which seek to provide insights into the your current trajectory in life, based on experience, analysis and reflection, utilising a set of skills that are based on Jungian psychology, traditional meditation methods and Perennialist philosophy.
Separating Fact & Fraud
Unfortunately, such a discipline is open to being very misunderstood by those who are not familiar with its underlying theories and traditions and this has been made a lot worse by the actions of fraudulent “psychics” and “fortune tellers” as well as the pseudo-science and aversion to parsimony prevalent within the New Age movement. While we will not call anyone out personally here, there are many fake psychics and other claimants of various occult powers who are at large and famous today who, despite having been publicly exposed, still have dedicated followings. Sadly the majority of these people, who are usually preying on the hope and/or grief of their clients, remain unexposed and operate fairly undisturbed as they continue to separate people from their money.
There are also a great number of people who genuinely believe that they have the ability to predict the future or have some other sort of extra-sensory insight, and while I am not going to outrightly dismiss all of them as delusions, I think it is wise to be highly sceptical of such grand claims until sufficient evidence is presented.
With The Psorcery Project’s Divinatory Advisory service, you will NOT be told a series of vague predictions about random events based on the creases in the palm of your hand, or any other such nonsense. You will be consulting a trained professional with many years experience in combining a range of occult disciplines with science, psychology, philosophy and technology for success in fields such as business, market analysis, people management and social and community intervention.
We employ a range of methods and techniques, depending on each unique situation and you can rely on our commitment to discretion and client privilege.
There are several methods which we do not currently utilise or endorse due to our commitment to reason and logic in our approach, integrity of service and providing genuine value to our clients while participating in broadening the social perceptions of the occult and esoteric disciplines.
If you require a specific method of divination to be used during your consultation then please let us know when initially setting up the appointment to avoid disappointment. It is preferred and advisable to leave it to the discretion and discernment of your Divinatory Advisor as to which techniques they wish to employ during your session.
As divination is not supported by current scientific understanding and is an unregulated art and industry which is unfortunately very often exploited, we seek to differentiate ourselves by being completely open about our approach, methodology and what you can expect from an appointment in advance. As such, if you are considering making an appointment, the first thing you need to do is be very clear about what you wish to discuss, and articulate your questions and the background around them as clearly and succinctly as possible.
Then you need to look at the type of questions you are asking; this is not a fortune teller who will tell you about when you will meet a tall dark stranger or a Magic Eight Ball that will say “yes” or “no” when asked if your new business venture will succeed. Try to think about this as an explorative exercise and reframe the questions in a way that enables introspection and growth, such as “how can I change my life so that I meet the right kind of partner?” or “What can I do to give my business the best chance of success?”.
We will also require a small amount of background about you and your situation, nothing too personal or in-depth, but remember- this is not a psychic service, we wish to be able to understand your situation and the types of answers you are looking for prior to our meeting to ensure we are able to give you the best, highest quality service. You will need to send us a short set up message with your appointment so that we are adequately prepared for you.
A good example of an appointment set up message is:
Hello,
I am about to launch my first business enterprise as a solo entrepreneur. It is a small business with just me at the moment and my aim is to start small and build a successful web design agency.
My business is registered and set up to the point where I am ready to launch my first ads and get started, however I am somewhat nervous as this is my first time trying to do something like this, I have invested all my savings and am only working part time currently to support myself while I get started.
I wish to discuss the following;
-
What personal attributes will I need to change/enhance to maximise my chances of success?
-
What kind of struggles can I expect during the first months of my business and how can I best anticipate and manage them?
-
What parts of my life are limiting my potential for success?
I would ideally wish to book the appointment during a weekday evening between 6 and 8pm and as soon as possible.
All the best,
Joe
While the above example does not contain a huge amount of information, it does at least prepare us for what kind of information we need to be gathering during the consultation and grants the opportunity to gain a better familiarity with the industry being discussed as well as the clients’ perspective as a new business owner.
Include your message when booking using the Contact Form and you will very shortly get an email reserving the date and time of your session. This email will include a contract to sign since, as mentioned above, this is not a field which currently falls within scientific understanding and therefore we wish to make sure that our clients understand the service they are contracting.
After you have signed the contract and paid your deposit, you will receive confirmation of your appointment.
Appointments are scheduled for an hour but you may find that it runs slightly under or over this amount of time.
Your session will usually be held online via video call and will run as follows;
-
Introductions & Background; this is where you will initially meet and (hopefully) get comfortable with the practitioner as they introduce themselves and find out more about you and your situation. They may ask questions to find out more about you and your life, this is purely to be of better service in providing you with the insights you are looking for.
-
Clarification; this is where you and the practitioner explore the questions you wish to have answers to and make sure that you are both clear on the insights being sought and key factors influencing them.
-
Reflection; you and the practitioner will take a short break, usually 5-10 minutes, this will allow you to refresh before the next stage and to really make sure that you have asked the right questions.
-
Confirmation; you and the practitioner will confirm the insights you wish to gain as precisely as possible and will agree on which technique or techniques the practitioner will employ.
-
First Divination Procedure; the practitioner will perform the agreed divination technique or techniques while discussing the insights with the client as the procedure progresses. Timeframes for this will vary depending on the nature of questions being asked and the methods used.
-
Discussion; you and the practitioner will discuss the insights gained and explore your thoughts and feelings about them.
-
Follow Up Questions; you will usually have the opportunity to ask two short follow up questions, if you wish, about the insights you have gained during the session.
-
Second Divination Procedure; the practitioner will then perform a second divination for your follow up questions.
-
Debrief; this is where you discuss the insights gained in your follow up questions and your thoughts and feelings about the session as a whole. You and the practitioner may wish to discuss next steps about what you have learned and they are able to offer follow up support or signpost you to other organisations or sources that may be useful for your next move.
